Tracy Baim, publisher and executive editor of Windy City Times, was among six officers who were elected at the annual meeting of The National Gay Newspaper Guild of the U.S. held in San Francisco on April 1. Each officer will serve for two years.
Sue O'Connell of Bay Windows in Boston was elected president while Michael Portantino of San Diego's Gay and Lesbian Times was elected vice president. Robert Moore of Dallas Voice and Susan Horowitz of Detroit's Between The Lines in Detroit were tabbed as treasurer and secretary, respectively. Baim and Mike Kitchens of Southern Voice in Atlanta were elected officers-at-large.
In another development, The Express of South Florida was voted in as a new member of the guild, joining Bay Area Reporter of San Francisco, Bay Windows of Boston, Between The Lines of Detroit, Dallas Voice of Dallas, Frontiers of Los Angeles, Gay and Lesbian Times of San Diego, Houston Voice of Houston, New York Blade of New York, Philadelphia Gay News of Philadelphia, Southern Voice of Atlanta, Washington Blade and Windy City Times of Chicago.
