Windy City Times receives two Lisagor nominations

Chicago Headline Club announced the finalists for its 2023 Peter Lisagor Awards on March 29. Two Windy City Times journalists were among those finalists.

The Peter Lisagor Awards, according to Chicago Headline Club's website, "represent some of the best journalism produced in Illinois and northwest Indiana from across print, digital, and broadcast media."

Senior Writer Andrew Davis was nominated for Best Sports Reporting (Small Publication) for his August 1, 2023 profile "Legendary coach Dorothy Gaters on her career, being part of the LGBTQ+ community." Executive Editor Matt Simonette was nominated for Best Arts and Entertainment Reporting (Small Publication) for his June 15, 2023 article "Patric McCoy exhibition unearths forgotten moments from Chicago's Black queer history."

The awards will be announced at on Friday, May 10 at a ceremony at the Union League Club of Chicago.
