ICIRR's 4th Annual Illinois Immigrant Integration Policy Summit, Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, takes place in a critical year for immigrant community issues, including those of interest to LGBTs. Raising these issues is crucial in a mid-term election year.
Three priorities will be addressed at this year's summit through interactive workshops and presentations:
1. Keeping families together, safe and strong including fighting for immigration reform, stopping deportations and ensuring that Illinois continues the legacy of being the friendliest state to immigrants.
2. Fighting for the Immigrant Services and a fair budget.
3. Guaranteeing the future of the community's education and a budget that prioritizes education.
4. LGBT Immigrants: This is the first year that there will be a workshop dedicated to addressing the needs for the LGBT immigrant community.
