In honor of Asian Heritage Month, which will take place in May, Asian Human Services is holding the Banyan Tree Essay Contest.
The essay should relate to the experiences, strengths and aspirations of a gay Asian or Pacific Islander man. The deadline for submission is 5 p.m. on May 6. The final selection will be announced on May 19, National Asian and Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.
The award will be presented to the winners at the organization's headquarters at 4753 N. Broadway, 4-6 p.m. The winning essays will be read aloud at this event. Awards for first, second and third places will be $200, $100 and $50, respectively.
