The Queer Queens of Qomedy are coming back to The Chicago Laugh Factory, April 28, 2019 at 4:30 p.m.
This funny game of thrones ( Q3 ), lead by Poppy Champlin, has been touring for thirteen years and they Love Chicago. Always ruling with three, the other two Comedy Queens are nationally known comics: Sonya White and Gwen La Roka.
Champlin, the host and producer is a veteran comic who won the title of America's Funniest Real Woman on the Joan Rivers show and also was featured on Oprah. Her many other credits include a Showtime Special, HBO, Entertainment Tonight, Comedy Central, and Comics Unleashed. Queen #2 is Sonya White, White has been in the funny business for over 20 years and combines her southern charm with her big city street smarts, throws in her impersonations and sound effects she'll have you mesmerized with laughter.
Sonya has appeared on HBO, E! Comedy Central and is featured on "Girls Behaving Badly," "Comedy Spotlight" and "The U.S. Comedy Arts Festival. The Third Queen to rule the stage is local comic Gwen La Roka. Gwen is a graduate of the famed Second City Training Center and was the winner of the Chicago's Last Loco Standing competition as well as being featured on TBS Just For Laughs Festival. La Roka is committed to grassroots activism and social Justice. And always on the hunt for new Queens, Shannon Noll has also been added to the roster for this Royal evening. And because Poppy is always wanting community to be involved, The Artemis Singers will open the show with a few of their newest samples of singing. They will start at 4 p.m. Sapphire Books, "The Gem in Lesbian Publishing" sponsors the Queens.
The show takes place at Chicago Laugh Factory at 4:30 p.m., 3175 N. Broadway, Chicago, IL. 60657. 773-327-3175. General admission $25, VIP $40. Tickets are $25 for General admission and $40 for VIP admission, which includes early entry and preferred seating.
