Gender-Bending Event at The HotHouse

'Embodied in Gender—Bending Boundaries Through Art,' a performance event that involves theater, burlesque and music, will take place April 13 at The HotHouse, 31 E. Balbo, 6-9 p.m.
Highlights of the event will include a reading by famed writer Dorothy Allison ( Bastard Out of Carolina ) , as well as performances by Matthew Hollis and members of Girly Q.
Performances will be followed by a discussion of bodies, culture and gender identity.
There is a suggested donation of $5 that will benefit Rape Victim Advocates, a not-for-profit organization. ( April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. ) For more info: www.rapevictimadvocates.org . For advanced tickets or info, visit www.hothouse.net
