Executive Chef Perry Hendrix has revealed the dinner menu for Maison, 333 E. Benton Pl.a 140-seat brasserie featuring classic, every day French fareopened May 25. Items include chilled seafood such as iced oysters and poached shrimp; cheese and meats like chicken liver terrine; and entrees such as Parisian gnocchi and slow-cooked duck confit. La Creperie Restaurant, 2845 N. Clark St., will celebrate its 40th anniversary this week with a week full of specials and events (with original prices June 1). Originally opened in 1972 by Germain Roignant, La Creperie is considered the oldest family-owned French creperie in the United States, and has a menu that specializes in a variety of both sweet and savory crepe dishes. McDonald's Corp. has voted down a proposal to assess its impact on public health, particularly childhood obesity, according to Advertising Age. The consumer-watchdog group Corporate Accountability International brought the proposal. Outgoing McDonald's CEO Jim Skinner said the chain has set the bar in the fast-food industry when it comes to improving the nutritional value of its items.
Cafe des Architectes (located at Sofitel Chicago Water Tower, 20 E. Chestnut St.) is hosting "Les Amis du Chef" Thursday, June 7. The cocktail reception is at 6:30 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m. Chef Greg Biggers and Pastry Chef Patrick Fahy will welcome guest chefs Justin White of Small Bar and Dirk Flanigan of Henri and The Gage, along with Master Sommelier Serafin Alvarado of Southern Wine & Spirits.
