SAVOR WhiskyX, an Easter soiree, a pizza-making class and more

I'll drink to that: On March 21, I was invited to check out dozens of whiskeys, rums, tequilas and other spirits at WhiskyX, which took place at the Chicago venue Morgan MFG and which hundreds of people attended.

WhiskyX has attracted crowds since 2017, and it's easy to understand why. This particular event not only featured all of the brands of alcohol, but people could also find a cigar lounge, food trucks and even a barber who provided complimentary hair and beard trims.

Other WhiskyX events are slated to take place in other cities across the country, including NYC, Atlanta, Denver, Nashville and Los Angeles. Check out .

What's at "steak": Celebrity Chef Joe Flamm and Day Off Group will introduce a weekend brunch service at BLVD Steakhouse, 817 W. Lake St., starting Easter weekend (March 30-31).

Every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., guests can now enjoy steakhouse favorites alongside new dishes like a king crab Benedict, TK Chopped Salad and Maine lobster roll in the restaurant's covered atrium. The team will also debut a new beverage menu with brunch-forward cocktails and an expanded list of Champagne and rosé. Reservations can be made on OpenTable.

Party time: Adding to the deluge of Easter events, Asians and Friends Chicago (AFC) Board President and reigning Queen Campit 2023 Angel "Fyre" will host anyone interested for a Easter bonnet soiree at the bar Max's Place, 4621 N. Clark St., starting at 2 p.m. on Easter Sunday, March 31.

While the exact activities are TBA, there will be a crafts table for folks to make impromptu bonnets. More than likely, we'll have an Easter egg hunt along with a bonnet parade (with possible prizes).

AFC aims to bring together gay people who are interested in developing a greater understanding of the culture of Asians and Asian-Americans and in developing friendships through social, cultural and educational activities. See .

In my house: New dates have been added to the Tree House Chicago Pizza Making and Wine Experience events.

You can join Tree House Pizza Chef Marco Colin for an intimate and fun experience on various Fridays, including April 5 and 19, and May 10 and 31. The classes will be set in the private Italian-coast-inspired Tree House back room, 149 W. Kinzie St., near Merchandise Mart. You will learn how to make Neapolitan-style pizza with toppings of your choice.

Tickets are $65 per person (ages 21+) and classes are 6-8 p.m. Reservations are required; visit or

Tea for two (or more): The Chicago Tea Festival will take place April 13-14 at the Copernicus Center, 5216 W. Lawrence Ave.

Vendors will include Chicago Teahouse, Sugi Moto Tea, Wild Bliss Organics, Royce Chocolate, Delightful Pastries, Tea Thoughts and many others. Some of the speakers are slated to include Nepal Tea Collective founder Nishchal Banskota, VitalisCare Clinic CEO Maria Kordas, Japanese tea advisor Noli Ergas, tea sommelier Elizabeth Escobedo, and TeaTime Magazine and Jane Pettigrew's World of Tea editor Lorna Reeves.

See for more information.

—Happy meal: Apparently, a lot of people were disappointed over McDonald's stopping the sale of the Snack Wrap (2006-16).

However, it's expected to return next year. I thought I'd end things on an upbeat note.

Drop me a line (hot news, tips, etc.) at and I'll get back to you faster than Aaron Rodgers can post a denial. Much more news is at SAVOR with Andrew ( ).
