Arcade/gastropub opens in Streeterville
For the Win ( FTW )a steampunk-themed, 20,000-square-foot arcade/gastropubhas opened at 322 E. Illinois St., the same address as Lucky Strike and AMC River East 21 movie theaters.
The new site manages to combine state-of-the-art gaming, chef-driven food and craft libations, and miniature golf into one space. One of the most riveting games is the booth that houses Dark Escape 4D, which has players wearing 3-D glasses while hunting zombies. Among some of the other games are Batman, a giant version of Connect Four, carnival games such as the basketball shoot, Monopoly and air hockey.
The miniature-golf course ( City Golf 312 ) is particularly strikinga Chicago-themed area that replicates baseball fields, Lower Wacker Drive and the Art Institute of Chicago ( among other landmarks ) while featuring murals from artist amuse.126.
As for the cuisine, FTW offers guests a complete food and beverage program featuring what could be called more upscale comfort food, brought to gamers via a dim sum-style cart service. Among the tastier food items are "meatball-loaf" parmigiana, crispy spinach salad and mini-corn dogs.
