The Chicago Tribune has found that most of the city's restaurants are not inspected twice a year, which most health experts recommend. Last year only 32 percent of 4,000 "high-risk" venues in Chicago were inspected twice. Inspectors visited 78 percent at least once, meaning nearly a quarter892 venueswere not inspected at all in 2012.
The 5th Annual Taste of the Gold Coast will take place Thursday, Oct. 3, 6-8 p.m., at the Sofitel Chicago Water Tower, 20 E. DMK Burger Bar is now open at Soldier Field, just in time for the Chicago Bears season. The menu has items such as grass-fed burgers, fries and craft beers. Ina Pinkney plans to close her namesake restaurant, Ina's, and retire at the end of the year, according to an Eater Chciago item. However, she has already sold the space to Lou Malnati's, which is a departure from most of the restaurants along Randolph Row. The pizza chain plans to open local location number 37 at 1235 W. Randolph St. by next summer.
