At the United Center on Dec. 13, the Chicago Blackhawks (7-16-4) fell to the Washington Capitals (15-12-4) by a score of 7-3.
Washington's Alex Ovechkin scored three times to become the third NHL player with 800 career goals, trailing only Gordie Howe and Wayne Gretzky, USA Today noted.
Ovechkin moved within one goal of Howe for second all-time. Gretzky has the record, with 894 goals.
The Blackhawks lost their fourth consecutive game, according to a media report. Head coach Luke Richardson said that some of the mistakes came from overthinking on certain plays.
Tyler Johnson, Jonathan Toews and Max Domi scored for the Blackhawks.
Chicago will next take on the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday, Dec. 15, at the United Center.
