Sen. Elizabeth Warren will be the keynote speaker at the Women's Luncheon, honoring iconic singer Aretha Franklin on Friday, July 14, 11:45 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at the Rainbow PUSH Coalition and Citizenship Education Fund's 46th Annual International Convention at the Hilton Chicago, 720 S. Michigan Ave.
Co-founder of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, the ranking member of the House Financial Services Committee and U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters will also speak at the annual gathering and celebration of the power and courage of women from around the world.
The luncheonwhich has the theme "Together We Rise, Empower the Women, Develop the Nation"was the brainchild of civil-rights activist Jacqueline Jackson, the wife of the coalition's founder and president, Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr.
Last year, more than 1,000 people attended the event, featuring a keynote address by former U.S. Secretary of State and former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
