Walgreens Pharmacy, together with Northstar Healthcare, celebrated the opening of the new Walgreens; the store is located at Northstar Healthcare's recently expanded, state-of-the-art medical and research center. The event was held Nov. 9 at 2835 N. Sheffield. Among the invited guests were representatives of AIDS service organizations.
'The opening of another specialty-focused pharmacy is a testament to our dedication to HIV/AIDS patients, their families and care partners,' Luke Kleyn, vice president of Clinics for Walgreen Co., said in a corporate statement. The statement also noted that Walgreens at Northstar Healthcare has a comprehensive line of HIV/AIDS medications and offers personalized, compassionate care from pharmacists who are trained in HIV/AIDS-related therapies.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, this pharmacy is the third specialized one in the Chicagoland area. Walgreen also operates 'clinic' pharmacies at Howard Brown Health Center and at the Central DuPage Medical Center.
