'Transfluent' series through Jan. 9

Transfluent—a public engagement that incorporates visual, performative and conversational expression—will take place at Center on Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted St., through Jan. 9.

Two art exhibitions—"Pearly Foam" and "Trisha Shattuck: Machinations of a Monk"—are being held concurrently at Center on Halsted and David Weinberg Photography, 300 W. Superior St.

Carol Burnett adds show

Iconic comedian Carol Burnett has announced a second show to play the Chicago Theatre on May 19 in addition to the previously announced show on May 20, according to The Chicago Tribune.

The performance draws from the openings of her hit variety series The Carol Burnett Show, with Burnett taking questions from the audience throughout the performance.

Sinfonietta MLK Jr. shows Jan. 17-18

The Chicago Sinfonietta, with Music Director Mei-Ann Chen leading, continues its 2015-2016 season with its "Annual Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr."

The shows will take place Sunday, Jan. 17, at 3 p.m. at Wentz Concert Hall of North Central College, 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville; and Monday, Jan. 18, at 7:30 p.m. at Chicago's Orchestra Hall of Symphony Center, 220 S. Michigan Ave.

Part of this year's program includes Richard Smallwood's "Anthem of Praise" followed by Conni Ellisor and five-time Grammy-winning artist Victor Wooten's "The Bass Whisperer," featuring Wooten on bass.

Single tickets range from $18-$60 for concerts at Symphony Center and $48-$60 for concerts at Wentz Concert Hall, with special $10 pricing available for students at both concerts. Call 312-284-1554 or visit ChicagoSinfonietta.org .

Adele at United Center in July

Adele will return to North America for her first tour in five years.

The North American tour dates begin July 5 in St. Paul, Minnestoa, at Xcel Energy Center and run through Nov. 15 in Mexico City at Palacio de los Deportes.

She will perform at Chicago's United Center on July 10, 11 and 13. Some of the other cities on the tour include Denver, Phoenix, Boston, Toronto and Nashville.

'Menagerie' Jan. 22-March 6

Hans Fleischmann reimagines his conception of Tennessee Williams' classic drama in a new The Hypocrites production of The Glass Menagerie Jan 22-March 6 at The Den Theatre, 1329 N. Milwaukee Ave.

The cast will include Fleischmann as Tom, Joanne Dubach as Laura, Donna McGough as Amanda and Zach Wegner as The Gentleman Caller.
