During the Beijing Winter Olympics, the U.S. women's hockey team has won its first two games.
The squad defeated Finland 5-2 on Feb. 3 and 5-0 against the Russia Olympic Committee (ROC) on Feb. 5, according to USA Today.
They outshot Finland 51-12 two days ago and bested that with a 62-12 margin against ROC. In the latter game, things got testy. At the end of the first period, U.S. goaltender Nicole Hensley and defender Megan Bozek slammed a ROC player into the boards for what they deemed an unnecessary shot attempt after the horn sounded. Late in the third, ROC's Maria Pechnikova was whistled for an illegal hit on Abbey Murphyand the U.S. teen then popped off the ice and put her left fist in Pechnikova's grill, resulting in Murphy getting a two-minute penalty.
The U.S. will continue Group A play Sunday, Feb. 6, against Switzerland.
