A male walk-on freshman basketball player for the University of Illinois at Chicago's Flames filed suit in federal court Jan. 18, alleging that his assistant coach Lynn Mitchem sexually harassed him.

According to the suit, the incident allegedly occurred after a Dec. 19 game in Mississippi. The student, 20-year-old Luis Martinez, claims that Mitchem put a hand on his bare chest and said, 'Can I see that sexy body of yours? Can I do something with your body later on tonight?'

Martinez also claims that the assistant coach intimidated him, and is seeking over $1 million in damages. The suit also names coach Jimmy Collins and athletic director James Schmidt, as well as other school officials, for allegedly not doing enough to protect the student.

The suit also alleges that Schmidt suggested the student file a harassment complaint against Mitchem.

Mitchem is currently on paid leave.

Calls to the student's lawyer, Sheldon Nagelberg, as well as calls to the university were not returned as of press time.
