Week 1: David Kodeski's True Life Tales
Opening Weekend July 21-23:
AND SOME CAN REMEMBER SOMETHING OF SOME SUCH THING, Written & performed by David Kodeski. If you think looking at other people's vacation slides is never fun, then you haven't met David Kodeski. Join this 'thrift store archaeologist' as he conducts a guided tour through his personal collection of family albums and found snapshots, weaving faulty memories and a little detective work into a unique brand of story telling.
Week 2: The Sweat Girls, the Solo Sampler, Opening Weekend July 28-30:
Sweat Girls Pamela Webster, Clare Nolan, Dorothy Milne and Martie Sanders join in the Solo celebration and lend their honest and humorous take on the human condition from the female perspective. The Solo Sampler is one of the most popular events and this year should be no exception. Featured soloists: Mary Fons, David Cerda, Dan Telfer, Angela Barker and other surprise guests.
Week 3: Brigid Murphy presents For Real, Opening Weekend Aug. 4-6:
Brigid Murphy is one of Chicago's solo treasures as both a performer and a producer. She is the brains and personality behind Milly's Orchid show, a Chicago vaudevillian extravaganza. She's also a teacher who nurtures emerging solo talent. For Real presents the work of some of her most talented students.
Week 4: My Life in Jeopardy, Opening Weekend Aug. 11-13:
Written & performed by Scott Hermes Directed by John Hildreth . Hermes' solo work is an autobiographical tale of an unemployed father of two fulfilling his lifelong dream of appearing on Jeopardy. Follow him on his adventure to realize his dream to become the self-proclaimed 'King of the Nerds' by climbing the Everest of TV quiz shows.
Week 5: Britney's Man Dances For His Supper, Written & performed by BoyGirlBoyGirl, Opening Weekend Aug. 18-20:
BoyGirlBoyGirl, Chicago's only solo performance collective, takes on current media darling Kevin ( AKA Mr. Britney Spears ) as featured in the January issue of Details magazine. Hear four of Chicago's favorite solo performers—David Kodeski, Edward Thomas-Herrera, Stephanie Shaw, and Susan McLaughlin Karp—expound on the mysteries of youth, celebrity, and tattoo removal.
Week 6: Judgments, Opening Weekend Aug. 25-27:
On their final weekend of the festival they bring out the big guns, literally. Judgments are stories from two Chicago police officers, one local judge and one teen. Written and performed by Tom McNamara, Tom Martinez, Edarra Johnson, Gloria Coco, Directed by Sharon Evans.
