On the evening of November 21, Taskforce Prevention and Community Services held a Thanksgiving dinner for clients and supporters at its office at 9 N. Cicero. The event also featured a raffle and impromptu vogue session.
Just before dinner was served, Taskforce Program Director Reyna Ortiz greeted guests by saying, "We are grateful for you all...for the clients as well as those who support Taskforce."
The day after a shooting in Colorado Springs at a gay bar left five dead and twenty-five injured Ortiz said, " Our community is always under attack and what happened in Colorado is why this space is so important. We need you to be aware of your surroundings."
During dinner Ortiz spoke about the services at Taskforce then opened the floor up for suggestions on what services clients would like to see in the future. Suggestions included an annual job fair, resume sessions, and interview training. Ortiz spoke at length about legal assistance and a promising partnership with Chicago House.
Taskforce Prevention and Community Service's website said "Taskforce Chicago is committed to addressing HIV/STI related needs of adolescent and young adults living in systematically disenfranchised communities with limited resources by providing HIV/STI prevention education, testing, treatment, and care services."
