Esera Tuaolo, this year's Chicago Pride Parade Grand Marshall, will be making an appearance at Chicago Frontrunners/ Frontwalkers Proud To Run during Pride Weekend.
Tuaolo, an openly gay former professional football player, was a second-round draft pick for the Green Bay Packers in 1990. In 1998, as an Atlanta Falcon, he played in Super Bowl XXXIII where he contributed 17 tackles and a fumble recovery. Since his retirement from pro ball he has pursued an acting and singing career. He is the first player ever to perform the National Anthem at a nationally televised game. He has released several albums and appeared in commercials. Esera and his life partner have appeared on Oprah. They dedicate their lives to raising two adopted children.
The Proud To Run is Saturday, June 26, 8:04 a.m. There is a 10K and 5K race and a 2-mile fun walk. The event this year benefits Gerber/ Hart Library and Pride youth. Registration is available online at www.frfwchicago.orq up until 5 pm the night before the event.
