There is a fire starting here in Chicago, and the flames are rising. Those flames belong to Chicago's newest soccer team, the Imperial Flames.
The team has been building strength over the summer. Lead by Jeff Hennessy and JP Amidei, the team's co-founders, it has been hard at work preparing for the fall season.
Chicago's only GLBT soccer team, the Imperial Flames offer a unique opportunity for soccer players to come together, meet, and enjoy the game of soccer. Open to all skill levels, the only requirement is a love of soccer. From beginner to advanced player, all are welcome to join the team. Practices are held every Saturday at 10 a.m. on the North Side of the city along the lake.
The team has three main goals: to promote soccer within the GLBT community, to play as a team in local leagues, and with a vision of having a team of Chicagoans play in the Gay Games in 2006.
