Chicago - Heartland Alliance, the leading anti-poverty organization in the Midwest, is pleased to announce that David Sinski has joined its leadership team as Executive Director of Heartland Human Care Services, the largest subsidiary of Heartland Alliance, effective October 22, 2012.
Since 2001, Sinski, who is a gay man, has served in senior leadership positionsincluding Executive Director at After School Matters, the nonprofit founded by Maggie Daley that provides high quality, out-of-school time opportunities for Chicago high school teens in the arts, communications, science, sports and technology. After School Matters provides more than 20,000 program opportunities for Chicago teens annually at more than 50 Chicago public high schools and over 100 community locations across the city. Prior to his tenure with After School Matters, Sinski served as Deputy Director and Interim Executive Director at Mujeres Latinas en Accion,
"We are excited to have David join our leadership team," said Sid Mohn, President of Heartland Alliance. "His experience and expertise in the field will strengthen Heartland Human Care Services and enhance our ability to provide top-quality programs to the thousands of people we serve each year."
As Executive Director, Sinski will oversee a number of comprehensive program areas. These programs span from housing, healthcare, jobs, and justice and serve a wide variety of men, women, and children who are homeless, living in poverty, immigrants and refugees, or survivors of trafficking, domestic violence, or sexual assault.
"I look forward to joining Heartland Alliance and being a part of its 125 year tradition and history of finding solutions for the most pressing social issues of the day, like poverty, homelessness and unemployment," Sinski said.
Sinski holds a Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University, a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Spanish from Marquette University and he completed the Dewitt Wallace Collaborative Leaders Program sponsored by The Institute for Educational Leadership. He is also Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Adler School of Professional Psychology and Co-Chair of the Board of the Youth Leadership Institute in San Francisco.
