Singer Beckie Menzie marks 25 years in Chicago

On March 1, 1988, cabaret singer/keyboardist/ songwriter, Beckie Menzie moved to Chicago, and has called this city and the music scene her home ever since.
On Sunday, March 3, 2013 she presents a concert called "Celebrate Me Home." The Houston Chronicle has noted, "Beckie Menzie's musical arrangements are innovative, inspired, miraculous masterpieces." This concert showcases many new arrangements as well as audience favorites.
Beckie Menzie in "Celebrate Me Home" will be presented Sunday afternoon, March 3, at 2 p.m. at the Mayne Stage Theatre, 1328 W. Morse in Chicago (773-381-4551 or www.maynestage.com for reservations). Tickets are $23 including the service charge.
Named "among the best performers in Chicago" by Rick Kogan of WGN and WBEZ Radio, Menzie is an award winning concert artist who has appeared at America's top venues including Jazz At Lincoln Center, Birdland, and Town Hall in NYC, and Chicago's Auditorium Theatre and The Park West as well as concert halls across the country. Menzie's Carnegie Hall debut was in Michael Feinstein's Now & Then series. Beckie has received several Chicago After Dark awards for Outstanding Cabaret Artist as well as it's Hall Of Fame award and received the 2010 Gold Coast Award for Excellence from the Chicago Cabaret Professionals.
Called "indispensible to Chicago cabaret" by Howard Reich of The Chicago Tribune, Menzie has spent her 25 years in Chicago hosting open mics for singers including her current engagements with Monday Night Live at Petterino's and Wednesday's With Beckie at Davenport's. She performs regularly with singing partner Tom Michael, and they will be debuting their brand new show, Up Close & Personal every Saturday this April at Davenports.
