Commissioner Debra Shore to speak at Third Unitarian on Lake Michigan's "Troubled Waters"
Debra Shore will speak on "Troubled Waters: Lake Levels Dropping, Carp Leaping, Fish on Prozac" on Sunday, February 10th, at the10am Forum at Third Unitarian Church. What do we know about the current health of Chicago waterways and Lake Michigan, and what's to be done? She will discuss the how healthy waters are vital to the region's economy and ecology, yet the Chicago River and Lake Michigan have been a dumping ground for human and industrial waste for centuries.
Shore was recently elected to a second term on the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. She serves on the boards of Congregation Sukkat Shalom in Wilmette, the Great Lakes Protection Fund, and the Gay & Lesbian Victory Institute.
