Bjork film screening
in U.S. starting Sept. 26
BjÃśrk: Biophilia Livethe documentary film capturing the concert centered on BjÃśrk's eighth studio albumhas begun a limited series of premiere screenings at festivals, museums, libraries, galleries and cinemas worldwide. Furthermore, screenings in the United States begin at the IFC Center in New York Sept. 26, with further screenings in cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle and many more throughout the fall.
The film documents the live show based on Biophilia, the multi-disciplinary, multimedia exploration of the intersection of music, nature and technology first released in 2011 as an album and suite of apps.
Directors Nick Fenton and Peter Strickland filmed BjÃśrk live in performance and augment her music with animation created by top designers.
Locally, it will run Friday, Oct. 10, at the Gene Siskel Film Center, 164 N. State St. Visit www.siskelfilmcenter.org .
Ugandan LGBT film to be
shown at church Sept. 12
Call me Kuchua film about Ugandan LGBTs' fight for freedom and the tragic assassination of their foremost leader, David Katowill be shown at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, at the Broadway United Methodist Church, 3338 N. Broadway.
"Kuchu" is a Ugandan term for LGBTs. Recently, Uganda's "jail the gays" bill was repealed on a technicality.
