The Chicago Sky officially secured a ticket to the postseason.
By virtue of the team's 92-84 victory over the Las Vegas Aces at Wintrust Arena on Sept. 5, the Sky will advance to the 2021 WNBA Playoffs for the third straight year under General Manager/Head Coach James Wade.
"As a franchise we're very excited," Wade said in a statement. "Now we are coming together at the right time, everyone is healthy, and we're just excited for the next few weeks so we can prepare. Now we know we have the postseason to get ready for."
During the game, Candace Parker moved to seventh in the league's all-time rebounds list after pulling down the 3,070th rebound of her career halfway through the third quarter. She also recorded her seventh double-double of the 2021 season (with 13 rebounds and 12 points).
Chicago is the sixth team to clinch a spot in the 2021 WNBA playoffs, which are scheduled to begin Sept. 23. It will be the franchise's seventh overall WNBA playoff appearance (2013-16, 2019-21).
The Sky and the Washington Mystics will clash in an Eastern Conference regular season matchup Sunday, Sept. 12, with the tip-off set for 2 p.m. CT. Sky fans can tune in to ABC to watch the game.
