NFL team cuts controversial player
The National Football League's Kansas City Chiefs have cut running back Larry Johnson after a series of actions that included using anti-gay slurs about his now-former coach, Todd Haley, according to USA Today.
After his actions, Johnson originally said, "I regret my actions. The words were used by me in frustration, and they were not appropriate. I did not intend to offend anyone, but that is no excuse for what I said." However, the New York Times reported, the staff was unimpressed with Johnson's mea culpaespecially because he did not specifically apologize to gays.
Johnson also made fun of a fan on Twitter, saying he made more money than the admirer. However, that may be the case: Johnson stands to make at least $2 million, even if another team does not sign him.
