Chicago MSA has just completed its flag football season. The men's championships held no surprises, the No. 1 team in each division won their respective championship games. However, the games themselves were exciting and could have easily resulted in several upsets.
In every division, the men were there to win and their determination showed in the unyielding efforts they displayed. In addition, there are some notable stats from this relatively young league: Flycka (competitive division) has won the championship every year since the league's inception (1998). This last one was the closest ever—33-32, defeating Douglas-Danielle.
Equality Illinois, after numerous failed attempts, finally captured their first championship in the intermediate division. And in the rec league, after losing the championship last year by a touchdown, Big Chicks came back this season and won the championship, defeating Quad's Bears 32-19.
On the women's field, there were a few upsets in the semi-finals. In the rec division, undefeated in the regular season, Diesel Daisies lost to Lost & Found, paving the way for two-year-old team, Head Cases, to take the championship. @mosphere won in the intermediate division and the No. 2 seed team, The Rebels, won in the competitive division. That game was a nail-biter, ending in a score of 13-12. The Rebels won against the No. 1 seed, Big Chicks, in the last minute of the game. — Mel Ferrand
