Chicago sent nine teams to Washington, D.C., last week to compete in the Gay Softball World Series. Chicago MSA, which boasts the largest women's softball league in the country, was well represented with four teams, after a long hiatus from any participation in NAGAAA.
In all, there were five Open teams and four Women's teams from Chicago.
Locals Art Johnston and Julie Colwell were inducted into the NAGAAA Hall of Fame and two teams came home with awards.
During this week-long event, Chicago's teams were strong going into the weekend, but once the dust settled only two were left standing.
The Chicago Spin Devils had come in second place in the Men's B Division ( 31 teams ) , losing in a heartbreaking championship game to the Seattle Monarchs.
And in the Men's C Division, Charlie's Cougars took first place, topping the 40 other teams in that division. They are only the 3rd >Open division team in Chicago history to win ( Little Dog Properties won D division last year, and Sidetrack won in 1983 ) .
Hunter's finished in 5th place for C division and Sidetrack Surge finished in 5th place for B division.
Buddies Mood Swings had a great showing for the women, but did not make the finals.
