Latin Restaurant Weeks (LRW) will take place Sept. 16-30 in various cities, including Chicago.
Illinois has the nation's fifth-largest Hispanic population; Chicago has more than 29% of people who identify as Hispanic. LRW partners with Hispanic entrepreneurs and professionals of the culinary industry to elevate them through the platform created for aspiring and existing Latinx hospitality professionals.
Co-founded by Karinn Andrea Chavarria, the campaign originated in Houston in 2019 and was designed to highlight the contributions of Latinos in the culinary industry as an integral part of the local community.
"You can learn a lot about a country's culture through their food and we want to create a story around the diverse Latin options to support the melting pot that is Chicago," said Chavarria in a statement. "This year, we're especially excited to round up not only different Latin countries but regions within those countries while taking it a step further by highlighting the complexities of those cuisines. LRW's 'Tour de Sabor' provides a path for Chicagoans to discover a hidden gem or visit an old favorite restaurant, coffee shop, food truck, bakery, and even a caterer."
LRW restaurants and caterers will feature signature dishes and special pre-fixe offerings that are $3-45.
