Reeling LGBTQ+ film festival kicks off Thursday, Sept. 17

( September 11, 2015 - Chicago, IL ) The 33rd installment of Reeling, the second-oldest LGBTQ+ film festival in the world and a beloved Chicago cultural institution for more than 30 years, kicks off Thursday, September 17 at Music Box Theatre with the Chicago premiere of the hilarious gay dude comedy FOURTH MAN OUT, starring Evan Todd, former Calvin Klein model Parker Young ( of The CW's Arrow ), Glee's Chord Overstreet and The Office's Kate Flannery, The Second City and Annoyance Theatre alum. Flannery, Young and Todd will attend the 6:00 pm Music Box Theatre red carpet event and pre-screening reception before the film starts at 7:30 pm on Thursday, night.
image005.jpgimage007.jpgThe fest resumes Friday, September 18 at the Landmark Century Centre Cinema, 2828 N. Clark St., with the World Premiere of "West L.A. noir" KISS ME KILL ME featuring Queer as Folk's Gale Harold in his first gay role since QAF ended its five-season run on Showtime. The stars of the John Waters-meets-Alfred Hitchcock murder mystery Van Hansis ( three-time Emmy nominee for As the World Turns ), Jai Rodriguez ( Queer Eye for the Straight Guy ) and Shangela ( RuPaul's Drag Race ) will join filmmaker Casper Andreas at the Landmark Century Centre Cinema, for a post-show Q&A on Friday night.
Additional highlights of Reeling 2015 include action director Roland Emmerich's passion projectSTONEWALL, set against the backdrop of the burgeoning gay rights movement in 1969, Sunday, September 20 at Century Centre. The hotly anticipated Julianne Moore-Ellen Page real-life dramaFREEHELD featuring Chicago actor Michael Shannon, makes its Chicago premiere Monday, September 21 at Century Centre with screenwriter Ron Nyswaner Oscar®-nominated forPhiladelphia in attendance for a post-show Q&A. Tony®- and Drama Desk Award-winning actressMary Louise Wilson, a Northwestern alum who played Edith Bouvier Beale in Broadway's Grey Gardens, is the subject of the documentary SHE'S THE BEST THING IN IT, making its Chicago premiere also on Monday, September 21 at Century Centre. Wilson and Nyswaner making his directorial debut with this documentary love letter to the craft of theater will be in attendance for a very special post-show audience talk.
Reeling 2015: The 33rd Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival takes place September 17-24, 2015. Reeling presents nearly 40 features and more than 60 short films from around the world, the majority of them Chicago premieres. The festival's opening night presentation returns to the Music Box Theatre ( 3733 N. Southport Ave. ) and to the Landmark Century Centre Cinema ( 2828 N. Clark St. ) for the bulk of the festival. The fest's home base, Chicago Filmmakers ( 5243 N. Clark St. ), will also host screenings.
