Megan Rapinoe knows how to go out with a bang.
The lesbian soccer icon scored a bracetwo goals in one gameas her OL Reign topped the Chicago Red Stars 3-0 at SeatGeek Stadium in her final professional match.
The Red Stars and the Reign were tied 0-0 at halftime. However, in the second half, Rapinoe and teammate Jess Fishlock put the game out of reach.
Despite the final score, Chicago outperformed the Reign in various ways. The Red Stars ended the match with more overall possessions (54.5 percent to 45.5 percent), passing accuracy (80.5 percent to 77.3 percent) and total passes (442 to 362).
It was also the final game for Red Stars forward Cheyna Matthews. Celebrations for Matthews and Rapinoe took place before the match. Jamaican international Matthews ended her career with 13 goals across 88 appearances in all competitions. Rapinoe's career came full-circle, as she ended her career in the city where it started.
In addition, veteran Red Stars defender Wright was celebrated after the match for earning her 150th regular-season appearance and surpassing former Red Star Vanessa DiBernardo for most regular-season starts in club history during Chicago's 1-0 win over Louisville on Sept. 30.
