On June 23, the Chicago Frontrunners/Frontwalkers will hold its annual Proud to Run, beginning at 8:04 a.m.
The race—held this year in honor of the group's late founder, Peg Grey —includes a 5K and 10K run, and a 2 mile walk. It is followed by an awards ceremony and race day raffle at 10 a.m. Round trip coach air travel on Northwest Airlines within the 48 contiguous states will be awarded to the first-place male and female finishers of the 5K and 10K races, and another ticket will be randomly awarded to one of the other participants or volunteers.
Grey, who passed away in February, founded Proud To Run in 1982 and was as its director from 1982 through 1989. She also co-founded Chicago Frontrunners/Frontwalkers.
This year, the race is returning to its former location. The start and finish will be on Montrose Avenue, east of Lake Shore Drive.
Registration and packet pickup will take place at the Center on Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted, on June 16, 9-11 a.m.; at Women and Children First, 5233 N. Clark, on June 16, 1-3 p.m.; and at Universal Sole, 3052 N. Lincoln, on June 19-23.
