On Nov. 16, the group Americans For Truth About Homosexuality is hosting a fundraiser banquet in Arlington Heights for their organization.
The group is a hate group that fights against the rights of LGBTQ people. The keynote speaker at their banquet will be Sandy Rios, a right-wing commentator who said at the Values Voter Summit that the Matthew Shepard story was a fraud.
In order to show these bigots that their homophobic views won't go unchallenged, there will be a counter-protest outside the event. Event organizers are asking counter protesters to arrive at Christian Liberty Academy by 5:15pm where the banquet is being held.
For those traveling from Chicago, the #717 Metra train departs the Ogilvie station at 4:30 PM and arrives in Arlington Heights station at 5:20 PM, about five blocks away from the protest. Anyone with questions and comments should contact the event organizer, Alex Forgue, at 815-630-8323 or by emailing him at alexforgue.mchs@gmail.com Event location: Christian Liberty Academy Address: 502 W. Euclid Arlington Heights, IL 60004 Date: Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013 |
