Chicago, IL - Broadway musicals take center stage at Pride Films and Plays' 2014 spirited benefit Tony Tunes on Tuesday, June 3, at Sidetrack, 3349 North Halsted.
The evening celebrates Broadway by featuring shows that have won Tony Awards in the past, along with songs from the upcoming Tony Award nominees ( like Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Violet and Les Miserables ). Performers for the evening will include nominees and winners from Chicago's Jeff-nominated shows, representing many of the theaters and cabarets around the city!
Under the direction of Jeff Award-winning Music Director Robert Ollis*, the benefit cabaret will present performances by special guest star Jayson "JC" Brooks of JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound, as well as:
Ryan Lanning, Sydney Charles, David Schlumpf, Harmony France, Jill Renn, Nicholas Foster, Amy Arbizzani, Scott Gryder, James Nedrud*, Kim Lawson, Kevin Webb*, Sharriese Hamilton, Edward Fraim* and Jordan Phelps*. These actors have been featured as leads in recent Chicago productions of Dessa Rose, Sweet Smell of Success, Songs From An Unmade Bed, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Les Miserables, Under a Rainbow Flag, Ain't Misbehavin', Smokey Joe's Cafe, Carrie - the Musical, Violet, The Drowsy Chaperone, Ragtime, WOZ: A Rock Cabaret, Parade, and many others. A number of them will be celebrating their recent wins of 2014 Jeff Awards from the previous night's festivities at Park West. ( *Indicates Artistic Ensemble Member of Pride Films and Plays. )
