I am going to blame this column all on my roots, show up in boots, and explore the world of country music.
Truth In Country Music—
Part One
The first line of the song 'Up' from Shania Twain's new CD of the same name is 'It's 'bout as bad as it could be.'
Truth In Country Music – Part Two
The name of the newest CD by Leann Rimes is 'Twisted Angel.'
Truth In Country Music Fans
To promote their singles line, US-99 ran a commercial in which a woman gushes about the great guy she met through the service. She says something like 'It's amazing, but everything I have in common with him, he has in common with me.'
Brad's Basket—Foreplay
Country cutie Brad Paisley recently had his basket up for auction on e-Bay, and I won it.
Ask And Ye Shall Receive
At a recent free country dance class on Monday night at Charlie's, Stina, who teaches there, urged on the class as they were dancing a line dance she had just taught them, saying 'C'mon, show me some attitude!' That is the last thing you need to ask for in a gay bar.
Add 10 More?
You would think two-stepping would be much more popular with the gay community than it is, given how so many have already been in one or more 12-step programs.
Brad's Basket—Grabbin' It
I am pleased to say that having held it, Brad's basket is big, and firm.
Hey Ryan, Fulks You!
Back in October, self-obsessed rock musician Ryan Adams threw a major hissy fit when a member of the audience called out for him to sing a song that was actually a Bryan (with a 'B') Adams song. Ryan swore at the guy, gave him cash for the price of his ticket and threw him out of the theater. To poke fun at cryin' Ryan, Chicago-based roots-rocker Robbie Fulks made an offer on his Web site to reward people who request Bryan Adams songs at Ryan Adams concerts with merchandise from his Web site equal to the price of their Ryan Adams concert ticket.
Everything's Political
Speaking of Ryans, I guess Ryan Adams must know how Jim Ryan felt when it came to having a name confusingly similar to someone in the same line of work.
Brad's Basket—(Anti)Climax
Unfortunately for me, the Brad Paisley basket that was sold over e-Bay was a picnic basket used by him in shooting the video for the song 'When Two People Fall In Love.' I should have known. After all, I was wondering how the seller was going to mail that baby to me.
Hey, I'm There More Than Occasionally
Stina often instructs beginning two-steppers to not look at their feet as they dance, which they often do. Stina often adds a comment that sometimes the occasional boot fetish will show up to watch the dancers' feet, but that most people who watch, just watch the dancers. I dunno, it seems to me that for Charlie's to try and downplay the fact that they get boot fetish guys would be like Sidetrack denying that they get many show tune queens at that bar.
