The rogue Boy Scout council in Philadelphia, Pa., has come in line with the national organization, reports AP.
The Cradle of Liberty Council, the third largest Scouting council in the country, just last month added sexual orientation to their
nondiscrimination policy. The national Boy Scouts of America (BSA) clearly bans gay scouts from being in the ranks.
The Philadelphia Inquirer said national Chief Scout Executive Roy L. Williams threatened to cut the group's charter: 'As a
condition of their charter, no local council is permitted to depart from [Boy Scouts of America] membership policies,' he wrote in a
memo circulated to Scouts leaders across the U.S. The Philadelphia organization caved and rescinded their non-discrimination
policy based on sexual orientation.
Gregory Lattera, 18, was the first victim of the change. He held a press conference to come out of the closet and discuss what he
saw as wrongdoings of the national organization. Lattera was ousted as a Scout.
