Summer is almost here, so I bet you are wondering what your little furballs will be wearing for the new season. Fear not, there are dozens of ways to spend thousands of dollars dressing and pampering your four-legged babies. Two interesting ways appeared in my email just this week. The first is a new pet shampoo from the people at F.A.G. —Fabulous And Gay Shampoo. They have a F.A.G. just for pets! According to their press release it is 'a natural oatmeal-based conditioning-shampoo blended with essential oils including Tea Tree Oil. Created to moisturize the skin, fluff the fur, protect from nasty odors and insects.' It's only $9.95, too. Sounds good to me! You can score a little F.A.G. at www.fabulousandgay.com .

The other email I received was a bit more of an investment, but I am sure your dogs are worth it. You can actually get diamond-encrusted bone-shaped charms that can be engraved with your pup's name on the back for anywhere from $1400 to $3500. I had to hide that email from Topo! The same folks also have some adorable bathing suits; bikinis and trunks starting at $60. Now those we can afford, and would make Topo & Bowie the talk of the doggy beach. These items can be found at www.tailsinthecity.com .

With summer there are also festivals and events for you and your dogs to attend. The big one for us is Andersonville's Midsommarfest and, in particular, the Ruff N' Stuff costume contest. Last year Topo and Bowie won as Sonny and Cher. This year's outfits are still top secret, but we do have a planning committee meeting this Saturday. It has been said that we take this contest a bit too seriously. The contest is Sat., June 10, at noon at the corner of Berwyn and Clark. All dogs are welcome to enter into several categories: tricks, cutest puppy, costumes, etc. Come with your dogs or better yet, just come and cheer our two on!

There are two other events coming up that look like big fun. Red Door's 6th Annual Gimme Shelter! Walk for the Animals is on June 4 at Indian Boundary Park. www.RedDoorShelter.org, and Paws Chicago's Poochapalooza on June 17 at Club Lucky. www.PawsChicago.org . Both events welcome dogs.

Lastly, if you want to be able to afford one of those diamond bone charms for Fido, enter him in Old Navy's Mascot Search before May 29. Winner not only receives fame, but also $10,000! That's a lot of kibble.
