From a news release
The Peoples Church of Chicago will hold a fundraiser on Saturday, April 14, 2012 called "Baseball and Hot Dogs." The fundraiser will take place at Ollie's Lounge, 1064 W. Berwyn, Chicago.
According to the late Reverend Preston Bradley, "When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on" and that is exactly what the fundraiser does. Says the Rev. Jean Darling, "We've tied a knot, help us hang on."
[ Editor's note: The Peoples Church of Chicago has been home to a lot of LGBT concerts and benefits over the years. ]
The fundraiser is asking for a donation of $25 and will begin at 11:30am with the baseball game beginning at 12:05. Old Style and hot dogs will be offered throughout the entire nine innings.
In addition, there will be a raffle of two tickets to a Cubs game including free parking and 4 cocktails at a Wrigleyville establishment. Raffle tickets are $5 each.
The Peoples Church is located at 941 W. Lawrence Ave., Chicago, in a beautiful building built in 1926 at the height of Uptown's glory days. The main hall seats nearly a thousand people close to the stage on two levels, with wonderful acoustics, and a mural by Louis Grell of an allegorical Jesus speaking to a rural mid-20th century crowd.
The Peoples Church has a great progressive history, and acts as home to community and arts organizations that help enrich the culture of Uptown.
