Catherine "Geege" Borovina, longtime Chicago activist and businesswoman, died Aug. 19 after a brief illness.
Borovina and her partner, Leslie Fisher, celebrated their 35th anniversary just a few weeks ago.
In the 1970s, Borovina and Fisher owned a popular bar in Old Town. They have been supportive of a wide range of community causes, and were part of the gay bowling leagues for many years.
In her younger years, Borovina was in The Women in the Air Force program.
She is survived by Fisher as well as many family members and friends around the country.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Jerome Croatian Catholic Church, 28th & Princeton in the Bridgeport neighborhood on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012 at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, 87th & Pulaski.
On the way to visit Geege, her sister Aggie was rushed to the ER and subsequently died. The sisters will have their funeral service together. |
