Tee Corinne, a renowned artist and photographer who also published erotic fiction, died Aug. 27 in her home in Oregon due to complications from liver cancer. She was 62.
Born Linda Tee Cutchin on Nov. 3, 1943, in St. Petersburg, Fla., Corinne attended Newcomb College of Tulane University before obtaining her B. A. from the University of South Florida ( 1965 ) and her Master of Fine Arts from the Pratt Institute ( 1968 ) . After a seven-year marriage, she became heavily involved in lesbian erotica, producing such work as Yantras of Womanlove ( 1982 ) , the first book of Sapphic erotic photos ever published.
In addition to her own original contributions to lesbian art and photography, Corinne supported other lesbian artists. A co-founder and past co-chair of the Gay & Lesbian Caucus, she was also a co-founder of the Lesbian & Bisexual Caucus of the Women's Caucus for Art. Lambda Book Report selected Corinne as one of the 50 most influential lesbians and gay men of the decade in 1991.
In her honor Moonforce Media established the Tee A. Corinne Prize for Lesbian Media Artists. Corinne left her manuscripts and other material to tthe University of Oregon Libraries.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Corinne's name should be made payable to The Tee Corinne Fund, with 'Tee Corinne U of O Libraries' in the memo line, and should be mailed to the Library Development Office, 1299 University of Oregon, Eugene OR 97403-1299.
In addition, the Tee A. Corinne Prize for Lesbian Media Artists has been established by Moonforce Media in honor of the groundbreaking artist. Artists, who may work with any medium about any subject, will receive unrestricted grants of up to $1,000 annually.
