Another exciting OUTspoken Storytelling Night will offer the perspective of four Chicagoans telling life's stories from their LGBTQ+ viewpoint or that of their close friends and relatives, Tuesday, Nov. 10, starting at 7 p.m. on Zoom.
This program is free. Interested parties can go to Facebook, log on to OUTspoken at Sidetrack; the Zoom information will be available the day before the event.
The storytellers range from an attorney to a physician, and from a playwright to the mother of a gay son....and they all have tales to tell.
Emma Vosicky is a business litigation attorney and a published writer as well as a storyteller and public speaker. Her passion lies in outreach, education and advocacy for the LGBTQ community, She volunteers with Youth Outlook, Equality Illinois and the Transformative Justice Law Project. This is her second appearance with OUTspoken.
Timm Holt is a retired physician and writer who has written for many medical journals. Now retired, he writes poetry, plays and novels inspired by life events. He likes to explore the relationship of healing, literature and spirituality.
He has published a novel, "Square Affair" and produced two plays. He works to help churches become more inclusive of LGBTQ people.
Susan Baldus Strauss has been married for 35 years and has two sons - one gay and the other straight. Ben, the gay son, is 32 and for 22 of those years, Susan had no idea he was gay. She has come a long way on her journey with Ben of searching, trust and taking risks together. She enjoys sharing her story and the feelings that accompany the unfolding awareness and new understanding of her son - as she loves him with all her heart.
Archy Jamjun is the Curator of OUTspoken and a two-time winner of The Moth Grand Slam. He has traveled all over the world telling stories and in 2019 wrote and produced his first solo show,"A Boy and A Diva." He recently worked as a storytelling coach for Pride action Tank's "Storytelling for Change: Stories From The First Out Generation" and his story "Pretty" was published by Barrel House in 2019. In January, 2021, he will premier his storytelling and variety show "I LOVE EVERYTHING" at the Lifeline Theater's Virtual Storytelling Festival, "Fillet of Solo." This is Archy's fourth time telling stories at OUTspoken.
This OUTspoken November production has been curated by Archy Jamjun and will be hosted by David Fink and Kim L. Hunt.
OUTspoken is a monthly LGBTQ+ story telling event usually presented at Sidetrack, 3349 N. Halsted. This current pandemic, however, has forced it to Zoom.
