Look for the theme song to the upcoming Charlie's Angels sequel to be "pretty in Pink," as the colorful, take-no-prisoners singer has been tagged to perform the title track to CA2: Halo. No song title has been announced yet, says Undercover.com, but Pink has reportedly been on the set to film clips for the video. In addition to Cameron, Drew and Lucy Liu, "Halo" will feature original angel Jaclyn Smith, Demi Moore, John Cleese .. .and the Olsen Twins. Look for a mid-2003 release date.
In the meantime, flip on Cinemax, and sit back and relax, as you soak up the dramatic stylings of Mariah Carey in her new, post- Glitter, straight-to-cable film Wisegirls. Co-starring Academy Award-winner Mira Sorvino, the film debuted at Sundance this year to surprisingly strong reviews, and Lions Gate Films reportedly had every intention of releasing the film in theaters. However, Wisegirls ended up being sold to HBO, which owns Cinemax, where it will begin airing Oct. 19. The film's bump to cable hasn't deterred Carey' s ambition to be an actress: her next film is Sweet Science, in which she will play a boxing manager.
A musical based on the life and songs of Kylie Minogue is on the horizon, according to NME.com . The working title is "I Should be so Lucky," and will feature 20 of her hits, to be adapted in much the same way as the musical Mama Mia was with ABBA's music. Let's hope she's "lucky" enough to find a workable script and believable casting ...
Bowie's new greatest hits album is a departure from the traditional 'Best of' format: 23 different albums will be released under the same name across the world, each with different track listings. In an effort to ensure each and every country is able to put on its "red shoes and dance the blues" the track listings will reflect the true hits scored in each individual country.
3D is the title of TLC's fourth album and the first one since the untimely death of group member Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes. 3D was in production at the time of Lopes' death, and she had contributed material along with fellow group members Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas. It was Lopes who came up with the title, according to a statement from Arista.
The first single will be "Quickie," due to hit radio Oct. 21, but available a month earlier to Internet users. AOL Music First Listen ( keyword: First Listen ) and will offer a streaming preview of the track beginning Sept. 18. 3D, due in stores Nov. 12, was recorded with a slew of producers.
Other new albums bubbling underneath: The Pretenders will release Loose Screw Nov. 12, their first album since 1999's Viva el Amor AND their first for Artemis Records. "We're delighted to be on Artemis," said frontwoman Chrissie Hynde, in an article on Billboard.com . "Russell Crowe's group is on the label too, and I heard their record the other day and I said, 'That's fucking great! Let's take them on tour.' So I think we'll be taking them out with us in America in January and February." The album will reportedly feature some tracks with a reggae-inspired sound. "There's only a few reggae tracks. But I was very determined this time to give a more reggae feel, as opposed to have just the one token song."
Also newly signed to Artemis Records: Lisa Loeb, who will release her new album, Hello Lisa, Oct. 8. Look for the cover art to feature Loeb with the Sanrio character Hello Kitty, which will be wearing groovy spex, just like the singer-songwriter.
