On the heels of Northwestern University firing football coach Pat Fitzgerald around hazing allegations, the school has also let baseball coach Jim Foster gobecause of allegations of bullying and a toxic environment within the program, ESPN noted.
Fosterwho came to Northwestern from Armyhad been investigated by the university's human resources department before the season. The investigation found evidence that Foster "engaged in bullying and abusive behavior," according to a document obtained by the Chicago Tribune.
Northwestern had several coaches leave the baseball program in February, and the team limped to a 10-40 record. After the season, 16 players reportedly entered the transfer portal.
"Nothing will ever be more important to Northwestern than providing its students a place that allows them to develop in the classroom, in the community, and in competition at the absolute highest level, and building a culture which allows our staff to thrive," athletic director Derrick Gragg said in a statement.
