Timothy LeDucwho made history as the first non-binary competitor at a Winter Olympicsand partner Ashley Cain Gribble finished eighth in the pairs figure-skating competition in Beijing on Feb. 19.
China's Wenjing Sui and Cong Han took the gold, with a pair of Russian Olympic Committee couples (Evgeniya Tarasova/Vladimir Morozov and Anastasia Mishina/Akeksandr Galiamov) taking silver and bronze, according to the NBC Olympics website.
Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier, the other U.S. pair, finished sixth.
NBC Bay Area noted that, during the free skate, Cain-Gribble and LeDuc received a technical score of 59.74 and component score of 66.18, losing two points on mandatory deductions after falls by Cain-Gribble on the side-by-side triple loop and jump combination.
