TV's Newest Daytime Host Gets Up Close and Personal With One Of America's Most Compelling Figures About Life, Love, Her Future

And Her Deep Passion For Design

Los Angeles, FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Elizabeth Edwards, whose personal story of survival has resonated with women across the country, will sit down with daytime host Nate Berkus during the September 13th premiere week of THE NATE BERKUS SHOW to reveal how she is turning the page on the past and beginning a new chapter in her life focusing on her relationship with her children, as well as her love of design. Last year, the estranged wife of former presidential candidate John Edwards, opened the doors to Red Window, a home furnishings business in Chapel Hill. The store, whose name was inspired by a shop run by her mother in Japan, is home base for a portion of Edwards' interview with Berkus, a design expert, and the perfect spot to discuss how Edwards is using her passion for design to reclaim her life. In addition, Edwards opens the doors of her home to the show; and is scheduled to join Berkus in-studio on the New York set of his nationally-syndicated series in a very uplifting segment, where the two plan on paying it forward to another woman who is looking to reclaim her life.

Commenting on the time he spent with Edwards, Berkus said: "I found Elizabeth to be incredibly honest, funny and just a pleasure to be around. Her passion to build a new life for herself is nothing if not inspiring. And, the fact that we both love design, gave us an instant connection." He added: "Being around her reaffirmed my love of strong women. They take their lives into their own hands and aren't bound by any parameters or rules. I think viewers will be happily surprised by her candor, pure wit and love of life. To have the opportunity to sit with her and share her story, in her own words, is why I wanted to do my show — so viewers can see not only who people are, but who they aspire to be. I believe aspiration can happen at any time in one's life -- who better to demonstrate that fact than Elizabeth. "

Terry Murphy, the nationally-syndicated show's executive producer, said: "Although 'The Nate Berkus Show' is about much more than celebrities and headline makers, Elizabeth's story and connection to Nate's love of design made for great storytelling and that's why it was a good fit for our show. Nate and Elizabeth's conversation was truly revealing and the content of the interview is fresh, untold and will make a difference in the lives of viewers. From her very useful light-hearted tips on how to bargain shop to the overall message that you can survive the storm and reclaim your life to find a new normal that works, I am sure our audience will be able to relate to her as a person."

THE NATE BERKUS SHOW, cleared in 95% of the country, including all of the NBC owned and operated stations, will premiere in national syndication beginning Monday, September 13 ( check local listings ) . Hosted by Nate Berkus, popular design expert, New York Times best-selling author and regular contributor to "The Oprah Winfrey Show" since 2002, the daily series will explore a broad range of lifestyle subjects providing take-away information and inspiration that will make a real difference in viewers' daily lives. Relaxed, unpretentious and accessible, Berkus will bring his passion for design and life to an upbeat and entertaining hour filled with a vast array of topics — from stories of personal transformation to headline-making personalities to the best design tips & secrets, all explored through Berkus' distinctive filter, his sense of discovery and desire to challenge himself and others to try new things and be adventurous in their day to day lives. SPT will handle worldwide distribution efforts for the show and advertiser sales, and co-produce the series with Harpo Studios. The show is executive produced by Terry Murphy.
