Sliimy ( pronounced like "Jimmy" ) just slipped into Chi-town with the Perez Hilton tour! This young French singer is no stranger to being on the road after supporting Britney Spears and Katy Perry on their European shows. Windy City Times chatted with him while he was at the Metro, 3730 N. Clark.
Windy City Times: Hi, Sliimy. Are you getting ready for the big show?
Sliimy: Yeah, I am excited.
WCT: Is this your first time in Chicago?
S: Yes, and the first time in the United States. I get to share my music with people from all over the world, which is really fun.
WCT: I wanted to say happy birthday!
S: Thank you. I just had my birthday, so I am 21 years old and now I can drink. It's a beautiful present that I am in Chicago right now and getting to travel.
WCT: Where did the name Sliimy come from?
S: It's a nickname. It's because I am really skinny. I thought it went well with the music and after I put it on Myspace.com then I had to keep it.
WCT: How did you become the first artist on Perez Hilton's Perezcious label?
S: Perez liked my cover of Britney's "Womanizer" and listened to my music that would become my new album Paint Your Face and really liked it. We were in sync with the cover and videos. Perez was really cool about it and enjoyed all that stuff.
WCT: How would you describe your music?
S: It's always hard to describe because when you make a song you don't really think about it. I am really attracted to pop music. When I was young I listened to lots of pop music, such as The Beatles and Elton John. Sometimes my voice sounds very soulful because I sang gospel when I was young. I have lots of new music that will come out also.
WCT: Your song "Wake Up" was just on the season premiere of 90210.
S: It's hard to believe it because when I was young, I was always dreaming of music. You never know how things are going to happen. You have to have fun and be yourself.
WCT: Good advice and good luck on tour!
