NEH awards $29M to 215 humanities projects

The National Endowment for the Humanities ( NEH ) announced $29 million in awards for 215 humanities projects across the country.

Grants were awarded in several categories, including Collaborative Research; Digital Humanities Advancement; Institutes for Advanced Topics in the Digital Humanities; Landmarks of American History and Culture; Media Projects: Development and Production; National Digital Newspaper Program; Preservation Assistance Grants for Smaller Institutions; Public Humanities Projects: Humanities Discussions, Exhibitions, and Historic Places; Public Scholar Program; Scholarly Editions and Translations; Summer Seminars and Institutes for College and University Teachers; Summer Seminars and Institutes for School Teachers; and Sustaining Cultural Heritage Collections.

Local individuals/institutions receiving awards include the Chicago Architecture Foundation ( $170,000 ), Chicago Film Archives ( $10,000 ), the Chicago History Museum ( $350,000 ), Erica Westly ( $40,000 ), Media Process Educational Films ( $75,000 ), Newberry Library ( $124,989 ), North Park University ( $9,000 ) and the University of Chicago ( four grants of $212,388, $109,605, $203,009 and $99,497 ).
