The Chicago Chapter, NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt, announced plans for its annual gala, 'Remember Their Names.' The event will be held Friday, Nov. 14, at The Arts Club of Chicago, 201 E. Ontario.

The gala will also feature a special exhibit of AIDS Memorial Quilts. Themed 'a night in Old Havana,' the event includes an intimate evening of food, drink and entertainment. Tickets are $150 per person.

Gala co-chairs include State Rep. Sara Feigenholtz, Andrew Arden Hayes, and Chuck Hyde. Emcee is Tamron Hall of Fox News.

More information and tickets are available by calling (773) 472-1600.

The Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS will be honored along with prominent Chicagoans, Robin Robinson, Fox News anchor; and Modesto Tico Valle, community activist and founder of the Chicago Chapter of the NAMES Project.

Special guest will be Cleve Jones, founder of the NAMES quilt.

The Quilt, started in 1987, stands as the largest piece of community folk art in the world. Nominated for a Nobel Prize, the Quilt now weighs more than 54 tons and is comprised of 45,000 panels dedicated to more than 80,000 individuals. The mission of the NAMES Project is to preserve, care for and use The AIDS Memorial Quilt to foster healing, heighten awareness and inspire action in the struggle against HIV and AIDS.

The Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS/ Chicago has remained a vibrant thread in the fight against HIV and AIDS for 20 years. NAMES Project salutes DIFFA/ Chicago by and through the leadership of its chair, Mitchell J. Cohen, for its long-standing commitment to raise awareness and funds to benefit local HIV and AIDS organizations. From fashion, interior design, furnishings and architecture, supporters of DIFFA now come from every field associated with fine design. DIFFA raises money for the battle against AIDS like no other organization can.
