||Milwaukee LGBT Community Center has first Black executive director

The Milwaukee LGBT Community Center has broken a barrier by hiring its first Black executive director, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
The board of directors named Kevin Turner-Espinozawho identifies as a Black, Mexican and gay cisgender man who was the interim executive directorto the top post after a search for a new leader.
Turner-Espinoza has a background in nonprofit work, having recently worked at the city's Journey House community center, which provides resources and services, including education and financial coaching for both young and old.
"My queer siblings, chosen friends, family and allies in this city mean the world to me. What a euphoric moment and opportunity to serve my community and the Center in a new capacity. As the executive directorand as a gay Black manI directly see the issues of race, gender, economic and health inequality we face every day," Turner-Espinoza said in a release.
