The next installment of Milly's Orchid Show will feature, from England via New York, monologist and song writer David Cale accompanied on guitar by Jonathan Kreisberg, from Hawaii via Austin.
Arista recording artist and original Poi Dog Pondering member Abra Moore, from England via Los Angeles, will read A.A. Milne (the only person licensed to do so). Also featured will be Peter Dennis, and from Chicago's own back o' the yards—belly dancers Read My Hips, 10-year-old tapping and singing sensation Maxanova, performances by Will Hare and James Kolstad, Milly's 'all gal' band The Sequins, her real boy dancers The Coal Diggers, and much more. Wrangling' it altogether will be producer and host Brigid Murphy as wise-cracking country crooner Milly May Smithy.
Milly's Orchid Show, described as Ed Sullivan meets the Grand Ol' Opry, is now in its sixteenth year. It has featured on a regular basis such renowned artists as David Sedaris, Lynda Barry, Frank and Malachy McCourt, Nora Dunn, Robert Klein, Eric Bogosian, and the Chicago Premiere of Blue Man Group. The shows also feature everything from fire eaters and rope twirlers, to gospel singers and Hula dancers as well as short films.
